"Branch Immaterial" refers to enlisted personnel unassigned to any branch, and the seal consists of the Coat of Arms of the United States against a blue background. This coin salutes all Branch Immaterial personnel. The Command Sergeants Major wore the Branch Immaterial collar insignia, the only enlisted personnel to do so. Minted in antique brass, and imbued with durable enamel.
